Purpose and working principle of a roll forming machine
2021-11-12

A plate rolling machine is a device that bends metal sheets into shape using working rollers. It is mainly used to manufacture cylindrical, arc-shaped, and conical parts and is widely used in shipbuilding, boiler manufacturing, aviation, hydropower, chemical engineering, and mechanical manufacturing industries.
Working Principle
A three-roll plate rolling machine bends the plate by using a hydraulic cylinder to drive the upper roller up and down, coordinating with the rotation of the lower rollers. The upper roller rises and falls symmetrically in the center of the two lower rollers. The main reducer gear drives the lower roller to rotate and provide torque. The plate is placed between the upper and lower rollers; as the lower roller rotates, the friction force causes the entire plate to bend and form.
Main Functions
Cylindrical Part Processing: Rolling round and arc-shaped cylinders using a symmetrical or asymmetrical three-roller structure, commonly used in the manufacturing of steel drums and pressure vessels.
Rounding and Leveling: Performs shape correction on pipes and steel plates to improve processing accuracy.
Anti-Deviation Design: Some models are equipped with positioning mechanisms to prevent steel plates from deviating during rolling, improving work efficiency.
