What are the differences between swing type and guillotine type in shearing machines?

We are now in the era of Industry 4.0, with more and more products moving towards intelligence. Shearing machines are one of them, and they have now replaced traditional machines. They are divided into two types: swing type and guillotine type. So what are the differences between them? Let's listen to a professional introduction!

In the swing type, the upper blade is fixed to the knife holder, and the lower blade is fixed to the workbench. The knife holder makes an arc-shaped movement around a fixed axis, achieving multiple linear cuts of the sheet metal.

In the guillotine type, the oil cylinder is vertically installed on both sides of the machine. The up and down movement of the oil cylinder drives the knife holder to move vertically back and forth, thereby achieving linear cutting of the metal sheet.

Compared with ordinary shearing machines, the swing type mostly uses oblique blade cutting, with 2 cutting edges on the upper blade and 4 cutting edges on the lower blade. Due to its simple structure, low failure rate, high cutting efficiency, and the fact that the sheet metal does not warp, bend, or twist after cutting, it is widely used.

The guillotine type has 4 cutting edges on the upper blade and 4 cutting edges on the lower blade. During use, the cutting edges can be replaced. The guillotine type has more cutting edges, resulting in a longer service life. Vertical blade cutting makes the cutting process more powerful and efficient, improving cutting quality.

The swing type is equipped with a quick blade gap adjustment mechanism, which can adjust the blade gap suitable for cutting according to different plate thicknesses and materials. It is also equipped with a precise parameter table for reference and selection, and satisfactory cutting quality is obtained through reasonable blade gap. As the knife holder rotates, the cutting back angle and cutting gap of the swing type will change.

The guillotine type adopts a three-point roller guide rail structure. The pre-pressed guide rail ensures that the knife holder always stays on the upper and lower guide rails and makes repeated movements without gaps. During cutting, the system electrically adjusts the blade gap according to the needs of different sheet materials to obtain better cutting quality.

The cutting angle of the swing type is not adjustable, which limits its use. It is also more single in terms of sheet materials and functions, and is not suitable for cutting thick plates.

The cutting angle of the guillotine type is adjustable, allowing for adjustments according to different sheet materials, making it more widely used and convenient. It also has more freedom when cutting thick plates.

The blade gap of the swing type needs manual adjustment; the cutting angle is not adjustable; the effect is poor when cutting thick plates. However, the price is relatively low. From the perspective of cost savings, if the shearing accuracy requirements are not high and the shearing thickness is relatively thin, a swing type can be purchased.

The blade gap of the guillotine type can be electrically adjusted, and the accuracy can be higher, reaching twice that of the swing type. The cutting angle can also be adjusted according to different sheet materials. If processing plates thicker than 8mm, it is recommended to use the guillotine type, because the principle of the swing type limits its accuracy in cutting thick plates. The appearance is an overall welded machine frame structure, and it has undergone vibration aging treatment, so the machine tool has good rigidity, high precision, and good precision retention. However, the manufacturing cost of the guillotine type machine is higher, so the selling price is also higher
